Treasure Hunt Activity – 11.09.20

EYFS/KS1 – If you are in school you can work in pairs. Choose 5 items that you are going to hide around the classroom/a room at home. Hide these items. Draw a map of where these items are. If drawing the map is too difficult you can explain to the other pair how to find each item (e.g. Start here and take 5 steps this way) Get another pair/person to use your map to find these items.

Resources needed : Plain paper, pencils, colouring pencils/pens, items to hide.

KS2 – (If children in year 3 find it tricky to write out instructions they may want to draw a map instead). Work in pairs. Choose 5 items that you are going to hide around the classroom. Choose a starting point of where the pair have to start. Put North, South, East, West signs up around the class/room. Then write out instructions of how they find each item.

For example:

  1. Start at the teachers desk facing north. Take 5 steps forward. Bend down. You should find your first piece of treasure.
  2. Now, face east. Take 2 steps forward. Then turn south. Take 1 large step forward. Reach up. You should now find your second piece of treasure.

And so on until they have found all pieces of treasure.

Have fun!
